Independence Rock in the foreground is an iconic sandstone formation and centerpiece of the Colorado National Monument as are the Coke Ovens in the background right. A spring storm was moving in as I found my way to the Book Cliffs Overlook to find the last light of day in early April. Waiting for a break in the clouds the sun lit the face of Independence Rock illuminating its mass from bottom to top. ItÕs immense beauty fully exposed!
A Pentax ist-D DSLR Camera with a 16-45mm Zies Lens extended to 24mm with a shutter speed setting of 1/2000th of a second; F-Stop f/3.5; and ISO 200 was used to capture this photograph of the Independence Rock and Coke Ovens at sunrise.
