We had driven by Maui's Sacred Gardens of Maliko on our way from Haiku to Paia before. We planned a visit explore what drew us in. The young woman, a recent transplant to Maui herself, gave us a personal tour of the grounds, an explanation of all the flowers collected and on exhibit, upon our arrival. This ornate flower's pistil with purple petals, yellow stigma and filament leading to purple anther set in a small watery arrangement captured my eye. The color, detail and design were captivating.
