On the Aspen side of Independence Pass as you leave the valley lives one of the most extensive and accessible groves of tall Aspen in Colorado. During the height of Autumn the golden canopy of these trees spans the roadway! Late in the afternoon about an hour before the sun goes down, the light filtering through the canopy’s leaves casts an ephemeral alpen glow over the forest’s floor and understory foliage.
A Pentax 67II Medium format camera with a 55mm lens, f-22, shutter speed at 2 sec and Fuji Velvia Film (ISO50) where used to create the sun appearing as a starburst.
