Dinosaur National Monument Photography | Anderson Hole Sunset - Yampa River | Robert Castellino Photography
It was Day 1 of a six-day private river rafting trip I was leading as the guide down the Yampa River through Dinosaur National Monument when we pulled into our camp at Anderson Hole late in the afternoon. It was the peak of high water during the spring run-off on the Yampa. The sunlight and shadowed red sandstone walls in juxtaposition to the impending thunder clouds over the horizon with the river flow reflecting the sun bouncing off the cliffs defined the power of water and land! A Pentax 67II Medium format camera with a 55mm lens, f-8, shutter speed at 1/125th of a second and Fuji Velvia Film (ISO50) were used to capture the wild flowers, meadow and Flatirons.
