At the height of the summer wild flower season in the San Juan Mountains, Yankee Boy Basin is arguably one of the most exquisite sights at sunrise in all of Colorado. The high alpine slopes were filled with a plethora of wild flowers filling the foreground with a full spectrum of color. The sun glowed on ridgeline spanning Mendota Peak to Mount Emma with clouds hovering over them making this vista one of the most breath taking!
A Pentax 67II Medium format camera with a 55mm lens, f-22, shutter speed at 1/60th of a sec and Fuji Velvia Film (ISO50) were used to capture the mountains. The 60X70mm transparency was scanned and enhanced in photoshop to open the shadows and increase colorsÕ saturation.
